Recently tagged as a 24/8, I like to get involved in a lot of things - sometimes more than I should. Originially from the mountains of West Virginia, our family lives in one of the fastest growing areas in the United States. Commuting all about the "Triangle" (Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, NC) keeps me busy as I manage afterschool and summer programs for youth across Wake County. I firmly believe in building partnerships and leveraging resources to maximize benefits while minimizing costs.
By trade, I'm a math teacher. I taught middle school math for 2 years and high school math for 3 years in WV. After moving to North Carolina, I taught high school math for 8 years and university for 3. I love working with 4-H youth development and watching youth realize their potential while helping them build marketable skills that will ensure them future success. Currently a life coach, I enjoy helping families and youth make plans that will set them up for a successful future. Not quite finished. . . more later. |

Intensely active to the point of being hyper ... even as an adult... I tend to create change...and am rarely satisfied with the status quo... unless it actually is working...
As a hyper active mother of two boys, I tend to focus most of my energies on educating... my boys and other youth. I view learning as a lifelong adventure, and am passionate about enabling others. In my day job, I teach lego robotics, gps/gis, digital photography, basic computer software applications,as well as Web 2.0 applications. I live in rural Oregon, on what we have coined as the "Pseudo Farm". I have absolutely no farming abilities, and am squeamish about killing animals for food, but love to garden. I have three cats, two dogs, two kids, and one husband. Greg, my husband. works for a supply company in a near by town as an operations manager. Mac, my eldest son, is 12. He is into aeronautics, and flying, as well as anthropology. His goal is to be a fighter pilot, or astronaut. (Or both) Dusty, my youngest, is 10. He is my red haired rebel. He is interested in animals and people. He intends to be a marine biologist, veterinarian, actor, and perhaps president. In my spare time, I am an avid reader, and will read almost any genre. My favorite books include "The secret life of bees" and "Atlas Shrugged" although "The Piano Tuner" is a close second. I also enjoy downhill skiing, sailboarding, and being outdoors. I am a fairly geeky, and enjoy new technology. I look forward to meeting all of you! |
